Poll: Does San Bruno Have a 'Kid Problem?'

The Tuesday night brought out a lot of emotions among residents, with the residents most affected by the nuisances caused along the walkway calling on the city to help them get their livelihoods back while others insisting that public space needed to be protected.

The conversation also included a lot of complaints about kids, in particular the students who use Memory Lane to get from school to downtown—some of which are responsible for the vandalism, graffiti and other nuisances along the walkway, residents say.

Some of the residents even said they felt like their neighborhood was being held hostage by a group of young people because they continued to cause problems to people's homes, and no one wanted to call the police anymore in fear of retaliation.

Resident Mike Bingham brought up a good point in the discussion when he made a statement about the Memory Lane issue.

"This is not a Memory Lane problem," Bingham said at Tuesday's City Council meeting. "This is a kid problem."
