Poll: What Should Happen to Transfer Students If a School Closed?

This year, there have been about 200 more students who have left the district than have come in. With enrollment continuing to decline, how should the San Bruno Park School District handle its transfer students if a school was shut down?

One of the many questions that has been asked during the school closure discussions is: What would happen to the transfer students if a school closed?

This year, the San Bruno Park School District had about 270 students that transferred to schools outside of the district. That's about 100 more students that have left the district than in years past.Β

On top of that, about 75 students within the district have transferred to schools outside of their neighborhood.

One of the main reasons that a possible school closure is being considered is because the district has had an issue with declining enrollment, which means less funding and more difficulties with making sure every classroom is filled.

Therefore, a number of parents have raised the question: If those 100 students that have allowed to transfer outside of San Bruno were still here, would there even be a need to close a school?Β
