Portola Students Get Creative for Dr. Seuss Day

A Portola Elementary first grade class celebrated art and reading in March by tipping their hats to Dr. Seuss.

To celebrate the Read Across America program, students at paid homage to Dr. Seuss earlier this month.

The students were able to come to school dressed in their pajamas and read in the cafeteria with their blankets and sleeping bags.

The first grade class of Lisa Decottignies and Caroline Hickey combined a writing piece with artwork about what they read about Dr. Seuss. For the artwork, the students were asked to make up their own combinations of words that rhyme with each other and place them artistically on hat resembling the famed Dr. Seuss striped hat in The Cat in the Hat.
