School Board to Discuss Special Ed Study

A report was done in June that recommended a sweeping overhaul of the San Bruno Park School District's special education program.

After having a more efficiently, the San Bruno Park School District board will now begin the process of taking up the study’s recommendations.

The study, which was funded with proceeds from the sale of the Carl Sandberg site, called for a sweeping overhaul of the district’s special education program. Some of its main recommendations were to hire a special education director and replace contractors with in-house staff.

Currently, Superintendent Dr. David Hutt directs special education, which the study found to be taking away from the program’s effectiveness because Hutt hasn’t been able to pay enough attention to the program’s needs.
