Cyclist Killed In Peninsula Crash

SAN CARLOS, CA — A woman was hit and killed by a driver Saturday morning in San Carlos while riding her bike along Holly Street, near the Highway 101 overpass, according to the sheriff's office.

In a news release published Monday, officials said witnesses reported a collision between a vehicle and a bicycle around 10:15 a.m. Deputies arrived at the scene to find a woman with life-threatening injuries. Fire and AMR medics rushed the woman to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The San Mateo Coroner's Office will identify the victim after her next of kin is notified.

Detectives with the Major Accident Investigation Team took over the case, and the investigation is ongoing. The sheriff's office said the man driving the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
