Peninsula Youth Coach Accused Of Sexual Contact With Child

He was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old.

PENINSULA — A badminton coach who is the co-owner of Bintang Badminton clubs, with locations in six Bay Area cities including San Carlos and Burlingame, was arrested on suspicion of inappropriate contact with a juvenile, Milpitas Police said.

Phu Khuu, 51, of Fremont, is accused of inappropriate physical contact and sexual communication with a minor. He was arrested in Santa Clara on July 25 and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old.

Bintang Badminton addressed the arrest in a statement on the company's home page. "Bintang Badminton was founded on the principles of honesty, hard work, trust, and a passion for badminton," the statement reads. "We have a zero-tolerance policy against misconduct of any kind. On July 24, 2023, after Mr. Khuu was accused of misconduct against a minor, Bintang Badminton has terminated him and he is no longer affiliated with the company. Bintang Badminton will not tolerate behavior that runs counter to its founding principles or which puts any of its customers or students at risk."

The company operates badminton centers in Milpitas, Campbell, Santa Clara, San Carlos, Burlingame, and Dublin. Summer Camps for kids were held at each of the locations. In addition, the company offers classes and private lessons in Sunnyvale and South San Francisco.
