Gunfire Reported At Intersection In SMC Town: Police

Officers investigated the area but did not find anyone matching the description of the reported suspect, police said.

MENLO PARK, CA — Officers responded to an area in Menlo Park late Thursday afternoon after receiving a report of a person possibly armed with a gun and shots fired, police said.

At around 3:43 p.m. on Thursday, Menlo Park Police Department officers said they responded to the area of Valparaiso Avenue and Hallmark Circle after a resident called in to report possible gunshots and someone armed with a gun in the area.

When police arrived, they said they did not find anyone matching the description the caller provided .

Police said they later learned that the caller had reported the incident three hours prior to their call to 911.

Officers said that other residents also reported hearing fireworks in the area.

"Following the coordinated response, the area has been declared all clear. No threats to public safety were identified. There was no evidence located on scene that would determine shots were fired," police said.
