Store-In-a-Store Concept Tax Win for City

Best Buy & Microsoft Partner on Windows "Store in a Store" in San Carlos.

In the latest edition of the San Carlos City Council Weekly Newsletter, the city describes the new partnership retailer Best Buy has with Microsoft to open Windows Store within the existing footprint of Best Buy located on Industrial Road.

The partnership represents a big boost to the Microsoft Store program that has 68 of these stores in shopping malls around the U.S. and Canada.  It also could be a boost to the city’s sale tax coffers.

By opening this specialty store within the walls of its large electronics/appliance space, Best Buy continues to buck the trend for smaller retail stores with an interesting twist. The buy-out of Magnolia Hi-Fi and opening up a store-within-a-store at the San Carlos Best Buy location has already proven successful, appearing on the City’s Top 20 Sales Tax revenue producers list on a regular basis.
