City Of San Clemente To Consider Senior Housing Redevelopment
City officials are reviewing an application that would allow for development of senior housing with health care services in the city.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — San Clemente city officials are considering a redevelopment application that would allow for the development of senior residential housing with onsite health care services, the City of San Clemente announced Tuesday.
According to the city, the property owner of 654 Camino De Los Mares submitted a property application after the city's Housing Element was adopted by the San Clemente City Council on Oct. 5 2021. The Housing Element identified the site on Camino De Los Mares as a site for potential rezoning.
MemorialCare also submitted a letter of interest to support the redevelopment, a spokesperson with the city said.

“I look forward to reviewing MemorialCare’s plans with City staff and my fellow Councilmembers. While health care is a priority in the City, housing is also a priority due to State mandates," San Clemente Mayor Gene James said in a statement.
The submitted application will be reviewed by city officials prior to going before the city council.

"The project application will go through several steps required in the development review and planning process, including numerous opportunities for public comment," A spokesperson with the city said in a news release.
