Hit-And-Run Driver Sought In Fatal E-Bike Crash In San Clemente

A Capistrano Beach man died Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle in San Clemente while riding his electric bike.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A 40-year-old Capistrano Beach man died Tuesday morning after he was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding his electronic bike near a major intersection in San Clemente, the Orange County Register reported.

Now, OC Sheriff deputies are searching for the driver of the vehicle, who abandoned the car a short distance away.

The man was identified by authorities as 40-year-old Joshua Gene Cervantes. According to authorities, Cervantes was riding along northbound Avenida La Pata near Avenida Pico when he was hit by the vehicle at about 1:25 a.m.

Deputies pronounced Cervantes dead at the scene after finding him with head and neck trauma, the report said.

The location of where the vehicle was found was not released.
