Homicide Suspect Arrested In San Juan Capistrano Shooting
Orange County sheriff authorities arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a May 30 shooting in San Juan Capistrano.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A 19-year-old man was arrested by Orange County sheriff authorities in connection with a May 30 shooting in San Juan Capistrano, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.
Yonic Montealvan-Saldivar was arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing 32-year-old Jose Luis Ortiz Dejesus in a San Juan Capistrano townhouse. He faces homicide charges, authorities said.
Authorities were called to the scene at 2600 block of Calle San Francisco, where the victim was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

Montealvan-Saldivar left the scene before deputies arrived, and was later declared a person of interest in the case, authorities said. On Friday, Montealvan Saldivar was detained in Calexico, CA by US Customs and Border Protection agents while he was trying to pass the border into the United States, authorities said.

He was later booked into the Imperial County Jail on a warrant, before being transferred to Orange County on Monday.
