Man, 26, Charged In Road Rage Shooting In San Juan Capistrano

A crash led to an argument, and a 26-year-old man faces attempted murder charges for shooting at a driver, according to sheriff's officials.

SANTA ANA, CA — A 26-year-old is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in a San Juan Capistrano road rage shooting, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Jaime Moralsesgonzalez was arrested May 19 and charged with attempted murder, discharge of a firearm at a car, assault with a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the sheriff's department.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred just after midnight on May 14. According to Orange County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Scott Steinle, a driver crashed into a parked car and got into an argument with Moralsesgonzalez as a result.

As the driver was attempting to leave, a brick was hurled at the car, shattering the front windshield and then Moralsesgonzalez allegedly opened fire, Steinle said.

The driver escaped injury, and authorities were called to the scene.

Moralesgonzalez also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, discharge of a firearm and personal use of a firearm.
