Biker In Fatal Ortega Highway Crash ID'd As Costa Mesa Woman

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A motorcyclist who died in a crash on the Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano Sunday was identified as a Costa Mesa woman, authorities said Monday.

Kiana Nguyen, 34, was riding her 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 motorcycle at an unknown speed Sunday morning when she “veered to the right across the right shoulder and struck the rock wall embankment,” California Highway Patrol Officer Rafael Reynoso told Patch.

The crash was reported at 8:20 a.m. Sunday on the westbound Ortega Highway around Antonio Parkway, Reynoso said. No one else was involved in the crash, according to CHP reports.

Paramedics took Nguyen to Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where she was pronounced dead of unspecified injuries, Reynoso said.
