San Juan Capistrano Christmas Fun For All People, Faiths In 2021

No matter what church you attend if you go to church at all, Orange County's congregations invite all to concerts, services this holiday.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — If you are looking for ways to celebrate the season this holiday in San Juan Capistrano, there are some things going on around our town you may or may not be aware of. South Orange County churches and congregations are kicking the season off right by opening their doors for carols, concerts and fellowship in 2021 after the closures of last year.

From living nativity scenes in Rancho Santa Margarita to Christmas chalk walks in Aliso Viejo, here are some holiday events that Patch has rounded up. Please let us know if we've missed yours!

  • Dec. 3: Stocking Drive For Orangewood Foster Kids, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 28326 Via Alfonse, Laguna Niguel. Residents can drop filled stockings for kids ages five through 18 at the Reynolds home by Dec. 10.
  • Dec. 3: Follow the Star Living Nativity, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., 29441 Altisima Rd., Rancho Santa Margarita. The Follow the Star Living Nativity show runs every half hour.
  • Dec. 4: Laguna Niguel City Hall Christmas Tree Lighting, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., 30111 Crown Valley Pkwy., Laguna Niguel. Participating residents can take pictures with Santa, enjoy live performances, crafts and activities.
  • Dec. 4: Drive-Thru Nativity at Mount of Olives, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., runs Dec. 3 and Dec. 4, 24772 Chrisanta Dr., Mission Viejo.
  • Dec. 4: Santa's Jolly Trolley, 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Santa and his elves will be making various stops through Dana Point, ending at La Plaza Park. Click through for the schedule.
  • Dec. 5: Light of the World Christmas Lights at Saddleback Church, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Dec. 2 through Dec. 19, 1 Saddleback Dr., Lake Forest. Make reservations at saddleback.com/lights.
  • Dec. 6: Toy Drive for Military Families, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 30111 Crown Valley Pkwy., Laguna Niguel. Residents can bring unwrapped new toys through Dec. 9 to donation boxes at Laguna Niguel City Hall.
  • Dec. 7: Hygiene Drive for Friendship Shelter, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 17 Stockbridge, Aliso Viejo. The Friendship Shelter is collecting donations of hygiene products, such as deodorant, q-tips and feminine products until Dec. 15.
  • Dec. 9: Christmas Chalk Walk Preview Night, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22851 Aliso Creek, Aliso Viejo. Guests will enjoy an evening at the park with cinnamon rolls and live music.
  • Dec. 10: Christmas Chalk Walk Drive-Thru, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., drive-thru event at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22851 Aliso Creek, Aliso Viejo. Register at christmaschalkwalk.com.
  • Dec. 10: Journey to Bethlehem, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Dec. 10 through Dec. 12 at Crossline Church, 23331 Moulton Pkwy., Laguna Hills. Guests can register at crosslinechurch.com.
  • Dec. 11: Laguna Niguel Holiday Parade, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Crown Valley parkway between Nueva Vista and Crown Valley Community Park in Laguna Niguel.
  • Dec. 11: Dana Point Holiday Boat Parade & Lights, 7:30 p.m., Dec. 10 through Dec. 11 at the Dana Point Harbor, 34675 Golden Lantern, Dana Point.
  • Dec. 11: Snow Day at Laguna Niguel Presbyterian, starting at noon, 30071 Ivy Glenn Dr., Laguna Niguel. View website for more information.

  • Dec. 17: Holiday Storytelling with Santa, 5 p.m., Dec. 17 through Dec. 18. Located at the Eco-Adventure Center at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, One Ritz Carlton Dr. Guests are encouraged to bring a book to donate to Miracles for Kids.
  • Dec. 19: Christmas Services Church of Jesus Christ, 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 22851 Aliso Creek Rd., Aliso Viejo.
  • Dec. 24: Christmas Eve Mass at Saint Timothy's, 4 p.m., 6 p.m. 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. at 29102 Crown Valley Pkwy., Laguna Niguel. View website for more information.
