San Juan Capistrano Woman Convicted In Dana Point Boat Death
The woman was convicted of second-degree murder on Tuesday, the OC Register reported.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A San Juan Capistrano woman was convicted in Orange County Tuesday after she was charged with piloting a boat in the ocean waters off Dana Point Harbor while a man was shot in the back and left to drown, the OC Register reported.
Prosecutors accused 42-year-old Sheila Marie Ritze of conspiring with Hoang "Wayne" Xuan Le to lure Tri "James" Minh Dao to his death on Oct. 14, 2019.
Ritze was found guilty of second-degree murder by jurors. Le was convicted last December with first-degree murder charges, a previous Patch report said.

The incident occurred when Le invited Dao to go fishing with Ritze on her boat for lobsters late at night in the waters off Dana Point Harbor, Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Scally said in a previous report. It wasn't the usual time for fishing, and they ventured a little more than three miles offshore, another unusual move because the usual fishing spot near the jetty was a lot further inland, he said.
