OAKLAND, CA —Two people were reportedly killed and multiple others were wounded in a crash and shooting on Interstate 580 in Oakland.

California Highway Patrol officers were sent to a crash with injuries around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on the eastbound lanes of the interstate, near Seminary Avenue.

Officers learned the vehicle was involved in a shooting just before the crash, the highway patrol said in a Facebook post. Multiple people inside the wrecked vehicle suffered gunshot wounds as well as injuries from the crash, authorities said.

All occupants were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The eastbound off-ramp to Seminary Avenue was closed Wednesday night and drivers were asked to avoid the area.

On Thursday morning, multiple media outlets reported that two people died in the crash and shooting. One victim was shot to death and the other was thrown from the vehicle when it crashed, the highway patrol told KNTV.
