Friends Of The San Leandro Library To Host Book Sale

The two-day, cash-only book sale will feature titles from all genres offering something for everyone.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — The Friends of the San Leandro Library will host its annual Spring Book Sale at the Main Library, 300 Estudillo Avenue in San Leandro, this weekend.

The two-day, cash-only book sale will feature titles from all genres offering something for everyone, organizers said, adding that gently used books, movies, magazines music and more will all be available at bargain prices, the Friends of the San Leandro Library said.

"If you've been to one of the Friends of the San Leandro Library book sales in the past, you know there are thousands of wonderful used books from which to choose, including like-new paperbacks, hardbacks, children's books, media, biographies, cookbooks, rare and collectible books and much, much more," the nonprofit group said.

The Friends of the San Leandro Library consists of community volunteers who help generate funds to support the San Leandro Library and its three neighborhood library branches. One of the benefits of being a member of the group is early access to book sales, giving "friends" access to the best selections, the group said.

The sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. for members of Friends of the San Leandro Library and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the general public. Then, on Sunday, April 23 a $3 bag sale will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Friends of the San Leandro Library also award 5 scholarships a year to local high school students who volunteered for the library. They encourage membership in the Friends, selling gifts at the Friends Gift Shop and selling used books at the Booktique bookstore and at the semiannual book sales.
