Mad About Mangoes: Making Jam, Coleslaw: Photos Of The Day

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Miyo Burnett grows plenty of fruits and vegetables at her San Leandro home, frequents the farmers market and scoops up fresh produce at the supermarket. When her tastebuds called-out for mangoes but she couldn't find ripe fresh mangos, she grabbed a bag of mango chunks from the grocery freezer.

Most of the mangoes were made into jam with finely chopped jalapenos. The rest, along with the juice from the bag, went into homemade coleslaw.
