Man Convicted Of Assaulting 2 San Leandro Police Officers
One of the officers needed three surgeries following the assault.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — An Alameda County jury convicted 64-year-old Terry Gordon of assaulting a police officer during a 2017 incident where he struck two San Leandro Police officers with his car, according to the San Leandro Police Department.
Gordon's conviction stems from an incident where two San Leandro police officers attempted to stop a man reported for shoplifting at a Safeway, according to police. He fled on foot before a physical altercation with the officers, which ended in Gordon getting into his parked car and hitting the officers. Gordon knocked both officers down, running over one of them.
Both police officers needed medical attention, with one being released from the hospital later that evening. Gordon was arrested by San Leandro Police Department detectives in Oakland following a vehicle pursuit the next day.
