New Classes Being Offered at the Senior Community Center in the Fall

There are four new classes being offered for adults ages 50 and older. Learn more about them and how to sign up.

The San Leandro Senior Community Center will be adding a variety of fall classes for adults aged 50 and older. If you are interested in taking any of these new classes, please register soon — space is limited.

Here is a list of the new fall classes:

  • The Alexander Technique of the Art of Walking: Learn how to improve your balance and understand the proper mechanics of walking so you can increase mobility, decrease tension in your legs and enjoy walking. Classes are on Friday, from Oct. 11 - Nov. 15 from 9 to 10 a.m. Registration is $60 for San Leandro residents, $70 for nonresidents.
  • Cupcake Decorating: Come and get new ideas for kid’s birthday parties, weddings or holidays. Bring 10 plain cupcakes and $20 for materials fees. The class will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Registration is $30 for residents, $40 for nonresidents.
  • Gentle Fitness: This class consists of easy-to-follow routines that will help improve cardiovascular health, strength, balance and flexibility. There will be two separate classes (4 classes per session): Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 4:50 p.m. Sessions will run from Oct. 1 - Jan. 30. Registration is $25 for residents,  $30 for nonresidents.
  • Intermediate Line Dancing: This class is for people have taken beginning line dancing. One new dance will be taught each week. Dances previously taught will also be reviewed. Classes are on Thursdays from Oct. 17-Nov. 7 and Nov. 14-Dec. 12. From 2 to 3 p.m. Registration is $14 for residents, $19 nonresidents.

Register for any of the programs listed above by completing this registration form (also available in Spanish) and return it with your payment to Customer Service at the Senior Community Center, 13909 East 14th Street, or the Marina Community Center, 15301 Wicks Boulevard.
