Nine Displaced By San Lorenzo House Fire, Cause Under Investigation

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a house fire that left nine residents in San Lorenzo without a home on Monday.

EAST BAY, CA — Nine people were displaced after a house fire tore through their home in San Lorenzo on Monday afternoon, creating thick black plumes of smoke.

About 21 Alameda County firefighters and two battalion chiefs worked to put out the fire that badly damanged a house fire in the 16000 block of Kent Avenue in San Lorenzo.

The fire was making its way from the outside of the home to the inside when firefighters arrived shortly after 1:47 p.m.

They evacuated residents who were inside.

Crews were able to knock down the fire within 20 minutes.

No one was injured, but nine residents will need a place to live, according to a statement from the Alameda County Fire Department.

The Red Cross has been called.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
