Preserves Made From Farmer's Market Produce: Photos Of The Day
When fruit and veg are at their peak, it's time to make preserves and other kitchen treats.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Miyo Burnett picked up enough fruit, vegetables and herbs from the Bayfair Farmer's Market last weekend to fill a basket. This week, she turned some of those treasures into tasty Apricot Jalapeno Jam. She even shared her recipe for those of you who have apricot trees or access to a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. Miyo said this batch of jam is a bit tart and spicy.
Apricot Jalapeno Jam
10 Apricots from Farmers' Mkt (seeded & chopped in mini food processor)
2 Jalapeno peppers from grocery (ditto)
1/4 cup white wine vinegar (it's what I had...)
1/2 cup (approx) brown sugar/Truvia blend (ditto)
pinch of salt
pinch of cinnamon
Cooked on low for about 20-25 minutes until Apricots & Jalapenos are soft & jammy. TASTE to see if you want MORE spice or sugar or whatever suits your taste.
Recipe adapted from 'Mary Makes It Easy' on FoodNetwork.
