San Leandro Offers Grants Up To $5K For Small Business Security
The deadline to apply is this Friday.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — Following the success of its inaugural Small Business Security Assistance Program, the City of San Leandro has announced a second round of the initiative to support local businesses in bolstering their security measures.
Over 25 businesses participated in the initial program, with many expressing high satisfaction with the results.
The latest round offers eligible businesses a professional security assessment and grants of up to $5,000 for property security upgrades.

The program features two components, which operate independently.
The first is a professional security assessment provided at no cost to businesses with properties up to 5,000 square feet. The assessments are conducted by a professional crime prevention company contracted by the City. Businesses with larger properties must cover the costs of assessing any additional square footage.

The second component is a Security Grant that provides up to $5,000 per business to fund security enhancements, such as equipment installation or other safety upgrades. The grant, which does not require repayment, requires applicants to submit cost estimates for proposed improvements.
The initiative aims to make commercial spaces safer and more resistant to criminal activity.
“The grant was so helpful for our business as we were able to put cameras and new lights in the building,” said Ricardo Guerra, owner of La Bombonera Indoor Soccer. “I feel the community feels safer walking through our doors.”
San Leandro’s program is part of a broader effort to improve the aesthetics, accessibility, and safety of commercial properties.
