San Leandro Unified Seeks Community Input for New Superintendent

A meeting will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m.

The San Leandro Unified School District is asking for community input before beginning a search for a new superintendent.

A meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight at Madison Elementary School to seek public input before the position is advertised, according to the SLUSD website.

Superintendent Cindy Cathey, who announced her retirement last month, steps down June 30 when the current school year comes to an end.

The district has since launched an online survey seeking feedback from the community “to identify the characteristics and skills that we will be seeking in our new Superintendent.” The survey can be found at www.slusd.us/superintendent.

A consulting firm will compile the input and other data to create a “leadership profile,” which will be presented at the April 16 school board meeting.

The district hopes to accept applications and interview candidates later this month, with the new superintendent starting July 1.
