Sheriff's Deputy Seriously Injured In San Leandro
The sheriff's office reports the deputy was hit by a fleeing stolen vehicle.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — An Alameda County Sheriff's Office employee was struck by a stolen vehicle that was fleeing last week, seriously injuring the worker who had to be hospitalized.
At 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, with the assistance of deputies assigned to the Eden Township Substation, attempted to apprehend two suspects driving stolen vehicles in the Ashland area of unincorporated San Leandro.
According to the sheriff's office, "During the incident, one of the suspects struck a Sheriff's Office employee with one of the stolen vehicles and fled the area to further evade capture."

Two suspects were taken into custody. The investigation continues.
"Our deputy sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. We are thankful the deputy survived and is receiving the medical treatment needed to recover from this traumatic incident."
