Washington Elementary Kindergarten Parents Pleased With How the School Year is Going

This past weekend, Washington Elementary's kindergarten families socialized at the annual Ice Cream Social.

San Leandro’s Washington Elementary School kindergarten parents and students gathered at McCartney Park for the annual Kindergarten Welcome Ice Cream Social on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Washington Elementary’s Parent Teacher Association and Dad’s Club host this event every year so the kindergarten families can meet other families, and also to encourage parents to get involved at the school.

Aside from the ice cream and socializing, Safe Moves — a non-profit organization that teaches the youth traffic safety education — set up a miniature city where the parents and their children were allowed to learn about bicycle and pedestrian safety. The kids were able to walk through the miniature city while trying to avoid different traffic hazards.

Students have been in school for almost a month, and parents are very happy with the teachers and how the school year has been going so far.

“I love Ms. Walter! She goes above and beyond when she teaches the students,” says Amy White.
