The trauma, isolation, and suffering due to the pandemic has been especially felt by the millions coping with cancer. This pandemic has had an even more detrimental effect on Asian American and other targeted communities. Today, the oppressing fear, isolation, racism, and mortality risks are being countered by resilience, connections, and demonstrations demanding change. Consider that while Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the fastest growing racial populations in the US, cancer is these populations’ leading cause of death. AAPI communities have one of the lowest screening rates for cancers that otherwise with high survivability. Our goal is to address health risks with caring and compassion as we advance approaches to improve outcomes.

Other performers and special guests to be announced soon! Funds from this showcase will support AAPI early detection cancer screening and pediatric cancer.

Love Notes Around the World is American Cancer Society’s initiative where individuals and groups continue to send messages of hope and support to those in need in the form of cards, songs, artwork, and videos. More than 40,000 letters and messages have been sent since March 2020.

Love Notes Around the World is a peer-to-peer format with digital and print options for people to connect with survivors, caregivers, first line supporters, and others in need. It was founded by breast cancer survivor, Vivian Chan, in 2012, who was inspired upon receiving a special message from an American Cancer Society volunteer while she was in treatment. www.acsengage.org/acslovenotes
