Comments of the Week: 'If My Baby Cannot Have His Ba-Ba, Then You Don't Get My Moo-La'
Check out the best, funniest, strangest and most informative things our readers have to say.

We take pride in our work here at Patch and always strive to bring our readers interesting news. However, we must admit, sometimes the most interesting part of a great Patch story is the comments from readers that it sparks.
Here are some of the best, funniest, strangest and most informative comments from Patch stories around the San Gabriel Valley and Crescenta Valley Patch sites this past week:
No Eating or Drinking or Feeding Babies at July 4 Celebration
This story from South Pasadena Patch Editor Donna Evans about the severe restrictions at the South Pasadena High School July 4 celebration got a big reaction from many of our readers. If SPUSD doesn't want people on the field, then rope it off to visitors, force them to stay in the stands or on the track. If my baby cannot have his ba-ba, then you don't get my moo-la

When I first read the headline, I thought this was an article from The Onion!

You're also not aloud to smile, cheer loudly, or bring chairs with pointy legs. It's quite a police state there.
Monrovia Pays Local Firm $12,200 for New Website That Never Materializes
Monrovia Patch Editor Nathan McIntire brought us the news of the website that never was. It got plenty of people talking:R. Ray Morford June 21, 2013 at 06:36 am
I know the City Council does not want to micro-manage City employees. But blowing $12,000 when the budget is so tight, is un-excusable. GET THE MONEY BACK.

WOW!!!! That kind of money could build our kids an actual BALLPARK to play and practice on. What a waste.

Wow! you people need to get a grip, I have done enterprise software development for the last 20 years and there is no way you can expect to deliver a feature rich site for that kind of money ($20K).
Chinese birthing houses
One of our biggest talkers of the week did not come from a Patch editor, but from Monrovia Patch reader genevieve, who posted a comment on our Opinion Board. We don't know the validity of the reader's accusations, but they included the following: Is anything being done re: Arcadia hotels, in particular The Santa Anita Inn which is dominant in backroom housing, receiving visiting nurses and LOTS of money, up to 20 thousand for Chinese women who overstay their visas. The board posting sure got folks talking, with 10 comments total, including:

Perhaps I am unclear on what exactly you would have done? Take away visas from Chinese only? Not allow anyone pregnant to cross our boarders even with a visa? Pregnancy tests at the boarder?

Are you all standing at the Arcadia City Council meetings, telling the City and Arcadia Police Dept. to crack down on these hotels that are turned into "birthing houses" ? If its not against any statute then YOU need to work to get a statute drafted and enacted as law to stop this. YOU are "We the People", and if you don't make the laws, someone else will. Complaining online may make us feel better, but it will resolve nothing.
Remember, we don't just bring you the news here at Patch, but we also get the news from you, our readers. Our comments sections, as well as our Boards, offer our readers a chance to tip us off about news that is happening, offer an opinion, add something to a story you think may be missing, communicate directly with other locals, or just simply sound off.
Thanks for reading Patch. Now tell us, what do you think of this story?
