SAN MATEO, CA — Two Peninsula men were arrested Tuesday after a San Mateo Flock camera detected it was stolen, according to police.

Investigators said the system flagged a silver Honda Accord entering the Los Prados neighborhood around 6:50 p.m. Officers spotted the car heading north on South Norfolk Street and noticed the vehicle was equipped with a different rear license plate. As they prepared to make a traffic stop, police said the driver sped onto Highway 101.

Police used spike strips to puncture the car's front tires, and the driver came to a stop near Kehoe Avenue and Norton Street, where the two occupants were detained. Investigators allege a search of the vehicle revealed multiple stolen license plates and determined the vehicle's rear plate was recently taken from a car parked nearby.
