$85K Grant Awarded To San Mateo Police For Traffic Safety Program
The grant, provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, will pay for additional enforcement measures.
SAN MATEO, CA — The San Mateo Police Department was awarded an $85,000 grant toward a program intended to deter dangerous driving behaviors, the department announced Tuesday.
The grant, provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, will pay for additional enforcement measures, including DUI checkpoints, bicycle and pedestrian safety enforcement operations and community education presentations on traffic safety issues like distracted driving.
“Impairment, speeding and other dangerous driving behaviors jeopardize the safety of other people on the road,” said San Mateo Police Sergeant Craig Collom. “This funding allows us to provide necessary traffic enforcement measures with the goal of reducing serious injury and fatal crashes on our roads.”
