Backpack Giveaway For Families In Need In This Bay Area City Before School Starts
A nonprofit that supports low-income families is looking to provide this crucial back-to-school item filled with other supplies.

SAN MATEO, CA — A nonprofit is aiming to giveaway nearly 3,000 backpacks to families in need Saturday in San Mateo.
The Samaritan House Back To School Backpack Giveaway will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the San Mateo Event Center located at 1346 Saratoga Dr. Gate 7 in front of the Fiesta Hall.
The local nonprofit will giveaway 3,000 backpacks to registered clients and partner agency clients. The backpacks will be filled with grade appropriate school supplies for pre-k through high school.

“Their families are making under $60,000 a year in an area where you need to make $140,000 a year, so a backpack that costs $100 plus is expensive. This event will help them supplement,” said Laura Bent, Samaritan House CEO.
Students can also choose between a variety of backpacks and hygiene kits and books will be handed out as well.
