SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The Court Appointed Special Advocate program of San Mateo County is hosting a two-week walk-a-thon in support of youth in foster care beginning August 14. Registration for the event opened Monday.

CASA, which advocates one-on-one for foster care youth to receive support and services, is inviting participants to walk, run, bike or track other movements to help fundraise and pair children with a CASA volunteer.

Participants are able to compete individually or with a team. They can set fundraising goals, share links to social media and receive recognition awards and incentives as they reach milestones, according to the event page. The overall goal is to reach 11,000 miles around the world.
