Collapsed Canopy Damages South City Gas Station

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — High winds associated with a powerful storm that pummeled the Bay Area Wednesday night knocked down a canopy at a Peninsula gas station.

The fallen canopy crushed several pumps at the Valero gas station at 3964 Callan Blvd.

The “bomb cyclone”- fueled storm has killed at least two people including a toddler and caused widespread flooding and property damage throughout the Bay Area.

Winds associated with the storm topped out at 85 mph in Marin County.

At the Valero station, employees had cleared the area in anticipation of potential storm damage, NBC Bay Area reports. No gas leaks or injuries have been reported at the gas station.

The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area calls for thunderstorms and heavy rain Thursday. Daytime highs are expected in the 50s and overnight lows in the 40s, with wind gusts easing off to 25-30 mph.

Another weather system is projected to bring additional rain and periods of stronger winds this weekend and next week.
