SAN MATEO, CA — Work to repair winter storm damage and power outages has progressed enough to allow the Coyote Point Recreation Area to reopen for weekday use, restoring more facilities and recreational areas for visitors to enjoy.

Most areas reopened Thursday, including three playgrounds, the promenade, the sand beach, reservable picnic sites, and the Bay Trail. Parks officials said some roads and trails still need to be repaved and warn visitors to watch out for uneven payment. More repairs are scheduled for the summer months.

Closures remain in place for the RV campsites, Knoll Parking Lot, Eucalyptus Picnic sites, and the Beach Center, along with portions of the Bluff Trail and Eucalyptus Trail. Officials hope to have most of the remaining sites open by July.

Power still needs to be restored to the automated payment machine near the park's entrance, so drivers will need to visit payment machines near the beach or CuriOdyssey lot or bring $6 to pay the entry fee in cash. Park rangers will be patrolling the lots to ensure fees are paid.
