Small Brush Fire On State Route 92 Stalls Traffic In SMC: CHP
The fire, since cleared, broke out under a truck traveling westbound on SR-92 west of San Mateo and spread into the grass, CHP reports.
SAN MATEO, CA — All lanes have been reopened after a small brush fire erupted under a truck trailer traveling westbound on State Route 92 at Ralston Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported. The incidents has since cleared.
Traffic was backed up Thursday evening as the four lanes of the busy thoroughfare connecting the Peninsula to the Pacific Coast had closed in the afternoon, with reopenings staggered into the evening.
The driver of the Ford F350 pulling the 30-foot trailer told the authorities that he could smell smoke and looked in the rear view mirror to see fire coming out of the bottom of the trailer bed, CHP Redwood City spokesman Art Montiel said.
