DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Event Announced In San Mateo County

At the first drug take back earlier in the year, 310 tons of medication were disposed of nationwide, officials said.

SAN MATEO, CA — The DEA will host a prescription drug take back on Saturday in San Mateo, police said.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the San Mateo Elks Lodge #1112, locals can clean out their medicine cabinets of all unused and expired pills and patches that they no longer need, use or will use and bring them to be properly disposed.

"By discarding them at our drug take back event, you will prevent these medications from not only getting into the hands of those who shouldn't have them, but you'll also prevent them from getting into our landfills and water systems," police said.
