Delivery Truck Flips Over San Mateo Bridge Center Divide: Photo

Two westbound lanes were blocked and traffic was backed up in the eastbound direction on Monday afternoon, CHP reported.

SAN MATEO, CA — A delivery truck flipped over the center divide on the westbound direction of the San Mateo Bridge on Monday afternoon, blocking two lanes and backing up traffic in the eastbound direction, according to preliminary reports from the California Highway Patrol.

The truck, traveling westbound, struck the center divide around 2:30 p.m. and was stuck on top of the divider.

A tow truck arrived at the scene at 3:20 p.m., but they did not realize the truck was on top of the divider and a second tow truck was called, according to CHP.

CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:50 p.m. for westbound Highway 92.

Fuel from the truck was pooling onto the road, CHP reported. The Hayward Fire Department was called to clean up the hazardous materials after 4 p.m.

The lanes were reopened after 5:30 p.m.

CHP said nobody was injured in the incident.
