Bay Area DUI Hit-And-Run Crash Ends With Arrest After Witness Detains Driver: Police
A man with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit crashed his car.
SAN MATEO, CA — A man was arrested after he drunkenly crashed his car Sunday night in San Mateo and was detained by a witness until police arrived.
On Sunday night, San Mateo Police Department officers said they responded to a reported crash.
A man with a blood alcohol level of .24 percent crashed into a parked car and then tried to flee the scene but a witness to the crash stopped and detained him until police arrived.

"This is a prime example of how drinking affects your ability to think clearly, causing bigger problems than it’s worth. Don’t drink and drive. Because when you do, it’s almost a certainty it will not end well," police said.
Officers said the driver failed his field sobriety tests and they arrested him.
