Girl, 16, Tried To Murder 2 Men In San Mateo Park: Police

A teenage girl is facing attempted murder charges after she stabbed two men in a San Mateo park, police said.

SAN MATEO, CA — A 16-year-old girl faces an accusation of attempted murder after two men were stabbed in Los Prados Park, San Mateo police said.

Officers responded about 8 p.m. Thursday to a report that the girl was being held on the ground by a group of witnesses, police said in a press release Friday.

The teen was still holding a knife in her right hand when officers took control of her arms. She fought violently and bit an officer who tried to remove the knife from her grip, police said.

Officers were told the girl had a knife in her hand when she began yelling at one man. As he tried to walk away, she began swinging the weapon, police said.

The victim raised his hands to guard his face and was stabbed in the hand. A witness who tried to intervene was also stabbed in the hand, police said.

The two men were able to hold the teen until police arrived.

In addition to attempted murder, the teen faces accusations of assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated resisting an officer, battery on a peace officer and battery on a person, police said.
