GoPro Headquarters Purchased To Make Way For New Bay Area Housing
The real estate firm claims the new residential development will include 15% of affordable housing.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Northern California real estate firm announced Sept. 3 they are purchasing the GoPro headquarters in San Mateo to create a new residential community, which is supposed to include 15% affordable housing.
Harvest Properties and Stockbridge bought the 22-acre Clearview Business Park in San Mateo. They said they plan to redevelop the 379,615-square-foot property, currently six office buildings partially leased to GoPro until 2026, into an affordable for-sale residential community. The campus, located at 3000–3155 Clearview Way, was built in 1973 and previously housed Visa International's headquarters before GoPro moved in.
“We’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that repurposed business parks can have on housing supply across the Peninsula,” Tyler Issadore, Senior Director at Harvest Properties, told Patch. “Clearview builds on that momentum and underscores Harvest’s commitment to delivering projects that meet both community needs and market realities.”

The redevelopment plan includes up to 225 townhomes and single-family homes, including 15% affordable, providing homes for up to 700 residents, the real estate firm claimed. The community design will feature energy-efficient homes, drought-tolerant landscaping, modern and traditional architecture, landscaped paseos, gathering areas, and a central green space, according to Bruce Beck, a spokesperson for Harvest Properties.
Between 2002 and 2019, San Mateo added almost 17,000 jobs but only about 2,500 new housing units. This resulted in a ratio of nearly seven jobs for every one housing unit, significantly higher than the target ratio of one-and-a-half jobs for every one housing unit, officials said.
