Gun, Drugs Found During Bay Area Traffic Stop For Illegal Tint: Police

A police officer pulled over a car for illegal window tint but found other illegal items during a probation search, police said.

SAN MATEO, CA — A San Mateo Police Officer pulled over a car for illegal window tint very early Friday morning, learned the driver had been previously convicted of a felony and searched the car finding a loaded gun and ecstasy pills, police said.

Police arrested Danny Nelson, 33, of San Francisco, and Elizabeth Hill, 33, of Richmond at around 1 a.m. Friday, police said. Nelson and Hill were both booked in the San Mateo County Jail, police said.

Police said an officer pulled over a car with an illegal window tint at 12:34 a.m. Friday at the intersection of S. Delaware Street and 25th Avenue.

The officer said Nelson was driving the car and learned that Nelson had previously been convicted of a felony. The officer said they did a probation search of the car and found a loaded unregistered gun under the passenger seat where Hill sat.

The officer searched Hill’s purse and found ammunition and ecstasy pills, police said.

Nelson was charged with being a felon in possession of a gun, carrying a concealed weapon in a car, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition and possessing a large-capacity magazine, police said.

Hill was charged with carrying a concealed weapon in a car, possessing a controlled substance, possessing a large-capacity magazine and possessing a controlled substance while armed, police said.
