Guns Displayed In Window Of Man’s Bay Area Home Leads To Arrest: Police

A man, who was previously convicted of a felony, had his home searched Wednesday.

SAN MATEO, CA — Police arrested a San Mateo man Wednesday, who was previously convicted of a felony, after reports that guns were displayed in plain view in the window of his home, police said.

San Mateo Police Department officers arrested Robert Torres, 63, of San Mateo, Wednesday afternoon for possession of a firearm with prior offenses, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and a felon in possession of a stun gun, police said.

On Sunday, SMPD began investigating reports that a man, known to be previously convicted of a felony, was in possession of guns that they believed didn’t belong to him and were displayed in plain view in the window of his home, police said.

A search warrant was issued and police said they served it at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the home located near the 800 block of N. El Camino Real.

Three guns, ammunition and a stun gun were found in the search, which are illegal to have if previously convicted of a felony, police said.

Torres was booked into the San Mateo County Jail, police said.
