Bay Area Health Officials Urge Parents To Prioritize Getting Kids Vaccinated

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Bay Area health officials are advising parents in San Mateo County to put getting their kids vaccinated at the top of the back-to-school checklist before school starts.

“We want to maintain our high levels of vaccination coverage,” said Dr. Kismet Baldwin-Santana, San Mateo County Health Officer. “Routine childhood vaccines not only protect children from serious illnesses. They also help every child grow up healthy, safe and ready to learn.”

Locally, health officials in San Mateo County are aimed at upholding the credibility of vaccine science and ensuring equal access to these tools as essential steps toward promoting health and protecting the most vulnerable populations in the community.

Children in California are required to receive certain immunizations to attend public and private elementary and secondary schools, childcare centers, family day care homes, nursery schools, day nurseries, and developmental centers or pre-kindergarten facilities.

Health officials said parent can check their child's vaccination records with their health care providers or though California's digital vaccine record portal.
