Hit-And-Run DUI Crash In San Mateo County Ends In Arrest: Police
The police department were coincidentally setting up a DUI checkpoint at the time of the crash.
SAN MATEO, CA — Police arrested a man who walked away from a DUI crash after he ran a stop sign and collided with another car Friday in San Mateo, police said.
At 6:10 p.m. on Friday, San Mateo Police Department officers said they received a call that a car crash had occurred at the corner of 12th and Palm avenues.
After an investigation, police said they determined the driver of a Toyota CHR, later identified as Eddy Sifuentes Hernandez, ran a stop sign and hit a Toyota Prius. Sifuentes Hernandez then left his car at the scene of the crash and walked away, police said.

Police found Sifuentes Hernandez and said his preliminary blood alcohol test showed he had a .196 percent BAC.
Sifuentes Hernandez and the other driver were treated for minor injuries.

Police said they arrested Sifuentes Hernandez for driving with a suspended license, while drunk, causing injury.
He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail, police said.
As the investigation was occurring, SMPD officers were setting up a DUI checkpoint near E. Hillsdale Boulevard and Saratoga Drive. No DUI arrests were made at the checkpoint. But over the weekend, SMPD officers said they arrested four people for a DUI.
