Indefinite Highway 92 Closure Prompts Emergency Responders To Adapt

The highway between upper Skyline Boulevard and Pilarcitos Creek Road will be closed until crews repair damage caused by a massive sinkhole.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — First responders are prepared to adapt to the indefinite closure of Highway 92 to public traffic, San Mateo County officials said Friday in a news release.

The highway between upper Skyline Boulevard and Pilarcitos Creek Road will be closed until crews repair damage caused by a massive sinkhole.

Officials said San Mateo County Health’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division pre-positioned assets in advance of this weekend’s winter storm and implemented contingency plans for storm-related impacts.

County officials acknowledged the highway closure of particular concern to coastal residents.

“The emergency medical services response system adapts before, during and after the storms to address their impacts, to make sure that all county residents, no matter where they live, continue to have 9-1-1 medical response resources available,” Emergency Medical Services Director Travis Kusman said in a statement.
