License Plate Reader Helps Peninsula Cops Recover Stolen Vehicle

A 25-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested, and an additional suspect, who police said is a 39-year-old Sacramento man, is sought.

HILLSBOROUGH — A license plate reader helped a Peninsula agency recover a stolen vehicle Sunday, the Hillsborough Police Department said on its Facebook page.

A 25-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested in connection with the vehicle theft case, police said.

An additional suspect, a 39-year-old male parolee, also from Sacramento, is currently sought.

Officers at around 4:14 and 4:27 a.m. Sunday responded to reports from Hillsborough’s FLOCK camera system that a vehicle reported stolen out of Daly City was in the Peninsula town.

An officer at around 5:25 a.m. located the vehicle in the 1000 block of Macadamia Drive occupied by a man and a woman.

The man fled the scene and was not located, and the female remained in the vehicle and was arrested, police said.

During a search of the vehicle officers found stolen mail from throughout Hillsborough was located and items police said were “consistent with ID Theft,” along with additional stolen property.

Police seized an additional vehicle associated with the suspects that was located at the Park and Ride off of Golf Course Road.

Police said the vehicle “will be searched for additional evidence pursuant to a search warrant in this case. The investigation remains active and ongoing.”
