Man Arrested With Drugs After Almost Hitting Patrol Car: Police
Police in San Mateo said the man provided them with a driver's license that belonged to someone else with an active arrest warrant.

SAN MATEO, CA — A man riding a bike who nearly hit a patrol car Wednesday was found to be carrying drugs and had outstanding criminal warrants, according to San Mateo police.
Investigators said an officer was driving near South Claremont Street and Keswick Lane around 8:40 p.m. when a man on a bike nearly collided with him. The officer stopped to investigate and said the man provided him with a California driver's license that he later learned belonged to someone else.
Police said the stolen ID belonged to someone who also had a warrant for his arrest.

As officers attempted to detain the man, police allege he briefly tried to escape but was quickly stopped. Once he was in handcuffs, officers said they discovered four ounces of methamphetamine, money and drug paraphilia in the suspect's backpack.
Once the man was placed in the vehicle, police said the suspect provided his real identity as Jason Hellman, 51, of Vallejo. According to investigators, Hellman had two outstanding felony warrants.

He was booked into the county jail on suspicion of possession of drugs for sale, resisting arrest, providing a false name and the two warrants.
