Man Who Stabbed Girlfriend Over A Dozen Times Sentenced In San Mateo County
The Southern California man was previously convicted in 2010 for assault causing serious bodily injury, police said.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A 27-year-old man was denied probation and sentenced to 14 years to life in prison for stabbing his girlfriend over a dozen times, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
The San Mateo County District Attorney's office said they initially sought 17 years to life for Neil Alexander MacDonald, 27, of Bakersfield, who was arrested in Daly City on Aug. 21, 2021, after his girlfriend reported a heated argument at an Airbnb, stating her intent to end their two-year relationship.
MacDonald threatened suicide with an 8-10 inch kitchen knife, and then stabbed the victim in the chest as officers arrived, police said. Officers took victim to the hospital with 15 stab wounds.

MacDonald pleaded no contest to attempted premeditated murder with great bodily injury on Aug. 11 in San Mateo County, receiving 14 years to life in prison.
