SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Ferenc Pataki, a realtor and East Palo Alto resident, is running to represent the 15th Congressional District, a redrawn district held by the outgoing Jackie Speier (D-San Mateo).

Speier announced that she wouldn't be running for reelection after representing most of San Mateo County and parts of San Francisco since 2008. Her predecessor, Tom Lantos, had held the seat from 1991-2008. The redrawn district stretches from San Francisco down to East Palo Alto, with parts of Menlo Park and Atherton included.

Pataki is one of six candidates running for the open seat. The primary is June 7, narrowing the field to two candidates before the Nov. 8 general election.

Why are you seeking elective office?

I am running for Congress to help reform our monetary system in alignment with the United States Constitution, so we can end our nation's never-ending financial challenges and offer real solutions to problems.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am the only candidate that understands and have a plan to do something about the root cause of our nation’s financial problems. The root cause of financial problems (over $30 trillion debt) in our government is that the Federal Reserve Bank is in control of our money supply and issues our money. We must reform our monetary system, only then, we will have the financial resources to solve many problems on national, state and local levels.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

We must reform our monetary system and I will present the Monetary Reform Act to Congress. I believe that I can bring both major political parties together to overhaul our monetary system, so we can bring inflation under control to stabilize our economy, lower the crime rate, because we all deserve living in safe neighborhoods and build more affordable housing, because nobody should be homeless.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been in sales and management half of my life, my negotiation skills will help me to persuade our politicians in Washington that it is time to reform our monetary system, because we just can’t borrow ourselves out of debt and many things across our nation getting way out of control.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Be the best dad that you can be.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

My position is clear: We must reform our monetary system as it was meant to be in the United States Constitution: Article I, Section. 8. Clause 5. states: "The Congress shall have Power [....] To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures. To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States"
