More Rodents Found, Little Sichuan Remains Closed

Results are in from Monday's inspection of Little Sichuan restaurant on E. 4th Avenue in San Mateo, and unfortunately, they aren't good.

According to Robyn Thaw, public information officer for the San Mateo County Health System, inspectors found additional rodents in the restaurant Monday, and therefore are not allowing the restaurant to re-open at this time.

"Environmental Health staff visited the facility, and while there was no evidence of new rodent droppings in the kitchen area, two rodents were found in the ceiling," Thaw told Patch.

Thaw added, the owners of the restaurant were ordered to continue working on the situation, and inspectors will be dropping by the restaurant daily to check on progress toward becoming a clean and healthy facility.

"The facility remains closed, and the operator was instructed to continue aggressive trapping in the ceiling area as well as in the kitchen, until complete eradication is observed," she said. "The ceiling area is to be vacuumed to clean dry rodent droppings."

Thaw added, "Environmental staff will continue to visit the facility daily until the facility is allowed to reopen; followed by an increased inspection frequency to ensure compliance."
